Will hovercraft sail over Mumbai’s waters again?

An interesting article about a hovercraft operation that did not succeed.

Launched 12 years ago, the hovercraft service sank somewhere along the way...

The quick-service hovercraft which was supposed to cruise along the waters of the Arabian Sea, ferrying local commuters from Gateway seems to have hit choppy waters.

After having fallen into disuse for over 10 years now, the railway bridge in question straddles the Chateauguay River near the mouth of Lac St-Louis. Exhibit uses movie relics to turn fantasy into reality

So Luke Skywalker's claptrap Landspeeder is there "in all its beat-up, rusted glory," Rodley fondly reports, as an introduction to the theme of transportation, "Getting Around."

In "Star Wars"-ese, the Landspeeder is a rudimentary repulsor-lift vehicle, which levitates through gravitational repulsion.

Fans longing to levitate like Luke can try out a one-seat hovercraft, "a cross between a fan boat and a riding lawn mower," Rodley says. They'll quickly learn that it's harder to control and stop than a car, "more like trying to steer a large ship."
